Dear Friends:
As spring turns to summer in South Carolina, I hope that you are spending this holiday enjoying the wonderful company of family and friends. In your celebrations, I also hope that you’ll take time to remember the true meaning of this day.
Each year, we set aside this time to honor those who have died in service to our country. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to these heroes. They have paid the ultimate price so that we can enjoy this day and every day in freedom.
As we remember the fallen, we also have an opportunity to honor all our nation’s veterans as well as those who currently serve in our armed forces. To these brave men and women, I want to say “thank you” and salute you for your remarkable efforts and great sacrifice.
This Memorial Day, I encourage you to reach out to veterans in our community to express your personal thanks. I also invite you to join millions of Americans in observing a moment of silence at 3 p.m. today to remember our fallen heroes.
Happy Memorial Day to you and your family!
Bill Sandifer
